It’s the 21st NC Ed Tech conference, the largest such event in mine and surrounding states. It is disappointing that I am not there for the pre-conference workshops. I do not remember missing workshops before.
As usual, I will be in the Warlick Room (Auditorium III), and will be presenting a range of topics, including video games, Second Life, and personal learning networks. In addition, I’ll be doing a two our workshop on Flickr and the wide variety of tools that integrate into the tool.
I just wrote in my blog that there are many people at this, and other education technology conferences, who do not need to be here. They already know much of what is being taught and talked about. It’s why we need to be doing a better job of making presentations a conversation, rather than just presentation. This certainly doesn’t apply to all of the presentations and topics, but there needs to be a lot more “un” in our conferences.
It’s a little bit better, and I’m reminded of what’s hard about working this conference. It’s that I have so many friends here, and I can’t get done what I need to do and where I need to be. Just had an amazing conversation with my friend Smythe Richburg.
