This is cool. I've not done back channel previously
necctxde (us) • 2008-06-30 12:38:22
I'm a newbie also - never too old to learn
Liz Philippi (US) • 2008-06-30 12:39:59
I am loving this back channel option!!!
Robert Morse (US) • 2008-06-30 12:42:14
Okay...I'm lost...what am I using this for?
Robert Morse (US) • 2008-06-30 12:44:07
Oh wait...I read the instructions and now I understand. If all else fails...read the instructions.
Steve Dickie (US) • 2008-06-30 12:44:59
Robert, we use this to chact with each other as if we wee just sitting next to each other.
Robert Morse (US) • 2008-06-30 12:46:18
Thanks Steve. Nice to meet you. I find David to be very thought provoking.
Steve Dickie (US) • 2008-06-30 12:46:48
That's why I make sure to see him whenever I get the chance.

Reminds me of Sir Ken Robinson's Ted Talk. www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/66

I don't even have a text messaging plan. The more I see people do it makes me think I sould get one, just so I can keep up a little better with my students
Robert Morse (US) • 2008-06-30 12:57:32
Steve, I'm right there with you. It's easier for me to just call. I often wonder if I am being left behind...if I am missing something because I am not a texter.
Robert Morse (US) • 2008-06-30 12:57:59
Of course...what we are doing right now is not much different than texting.
Steve Dickie (US) • 2008-06-30 12:58:53
It's not, which is why I'm surpised I don't use my phone to do it already
Robert Morse (US) • 2008-06-30 13:00:21
I think if I knew people who I could only reach through texting I would probably do it more.
necctxde (us) • 2008-06-30 13:01:24
phones are much easier to carry around than computers so it makes sense to text. We're carrying on a conversation and not bothering anyone.
Robert Morse (US) • 2008-06-30 13:04:52
I agree with that. I also don't think anyone can focus on texting and listening to conversation at the same time. I try to watch TV and listen to my wife all the time...I usually don't know what my wife is saying. When you multitask, something has got to give.
Steve Dickie (US) • 2008-06-30 13:05:38
This is true, but there is a lot of downtime in any converstion where you don't have to be focused on it.
Steve Dickie (US) • 2008-06-30 13:08:31
I'm tired of waiting for Spore to come out. Hopefully it really will come out this year
Steve Dickie (US) • 2008-06-30 13:12:37

My students add me in as the first pirate ever on the wikipedia page for piates. Someone fixed it within 20 min.
Jacques (CN) • 2008-06-30 13:30:47
texting and listening to David = multitasking = plastic thinking
Jacques (CN) • 2008-06-30 13:36:59
David, I heard you do this talk in New Brunswick last August. Today, I hear this again. Thought initially "Why the same again?" Now Im saying, yes, keep on truckin'. Teachers everywhere need to hear you. Transformation will be from within, each individual must reflect on his/her practice. Only way to reach the Tipping point.Early adopters open the road, others will refine/enable them after.
