I'm hearing the new story. I'm passing on the new story. Standing at the top of every building I can find and shouting about the new story.
Please help. Their response is, "I hear you Kurt, now come down from there and help us get our test scores up!" I want to scream! We're selling our souls to the PERCEPTION that if we score well, our kids are somehow better prepared!
From the beginning of time the "wise" persons have been the story tellers. The elders who have experienced life and could convey the message in a compelling way. Our tools today permit all to convey the message.
I read recently about Libya working to provide each of their students with a wireless laptop through the olpc program. No discussion of filtering, no lockdown or virus nonsense. And the technology and know-how being delivered by an American non-profit. The US should be very ashamed for not taking care of their own children in an ever flattening world. Our litigous society is failing us. </rant>
I am looking forward to the online sessions and the creative methods that folks find to deliver instruction online.
Just by chance I went on Flickr and searched for the tag k12online06 and got a sneak peek at one workshop. Try it!
I just know there'll be bragging rights to have participated in the FIRST K12 Online Conference!! Ok, so not like Woodstock... Participate, blog, comment, enjoy!
For what it's worth. KP
