(Return to K12online 2006)

I just finished David's preconference address. Awesome. The analogy of the rails and the side trips is a great one. But I was more struck by the summary of the Stock Barrons. Technology is not something we communicate with - rather something we communicate through. As a recent joiner in the blogging world, I'm always thrilled and amazed when someone comments on my blog. And I have fun commenting on other blogs. The very fact that I'm in discussion with folks all over the world whom I will never meet is still almost unbelievable. And yet, it is commonplace to my three kids. What astonishes me, they take for granted. Some part of me wishes they shared my awe. But a huge part of me is envious of what opportunities they will have.

As the US reaches the 300 million mark tomorrow, it is nice to know that we really can use this technology to share among us all.

I'm lucky enough to be registered for the CECA conference in CT next week where David will speak. I can't wait!!

I totally agree with how amazing it is when someone comments on your blog. I have added a cluster map to mine and it is amazing to me how far away the hits on my blog come from! Of course, I don't know if they really are reading, but it is amazing! Janice http://malahinitx.blogspot.com
