should be able to pursue their own interests, teach themselves. they need to make themselves an expert
But how do teachers facilitate this? Because by David's own admission they still need to learn the basics stuff. Sometimes it takes so long to teach the basics there is no time left. How do we teach the basics more efficiently so that we can get to the side trips.
