| Just a Random Picture I took in Baltimore |
Ok ok! I know. It’s been a very long time. I could calculate the number of days and weeks that have elapsed, but what practical value would there be in that. And I wish I could tell you one reason why it’s been so long since my last podcast — but there were lots, and non of them were very interesting. — just plain too busy to even think about it.
Though…. I have to throw this one in. My iPod, which is several years old, developed a hiccup on it’s hard drive, and as a result, many of the audio files I’d collected were rendered unusable, because words were literally interchanged. Some of it was funny, but mostly, the conversations made no sense at all.
The real shame of it was some great conversations that I had with educators in St. Michaels, Maryland, where I worked at the Association of Independent Maryland Schools technology retreat.
I was able to reformat the drive, reinstall the software, and test it during a very breathy walk that I had between my hotel and the Baltimore convention center for the MICCA conference. Here I did get some conversations, which I submit to you today. The first was one I frequently do, asking educator, “what’s knocked your socks off during the first day of the conference.” So here we are, in the words of my early birds.
Finally, this one caught my attention as I was walking by the exhibitors. Interestingly, the MICCA conference had vendors set up in the hall ways, so attendees couldn’t help but see their offerings, which is good, and this one made me stop. Just by their name, TeachAide, their display booth signage said, “social network.” So I stopped and talked for just a minute with the guy, and then realized that this was worth capturing. The truth be told, I’m seeing a lot of the same potential with some of the social networks that have been developed by Steve Hargadon on Ning. But it was interesting to get the sense of this, from the someone who sees social networks for teachers as a possible revenue generating endeavor. So here’s TeachAide.
