Desktop Blog Editor

http://davidwarlick.com/images/not_fun.gifI am hungry for a good Mac OSX desktop blog editing program. I’ve tried lots, but I suspect not all. Here are the features I crave, though probably not all of them.

  1. Spell Check
  2. Right-click speech
  3. Drag & Drop images with alignment options
  4. Browser access
  5. Blog this features
  6. Wordpress compliant
  7. Technorati Tags Generator
  8. Must be able to display the cents symbol (¢) with ctrl-$. ;-)

Any suggestions?

    I think it even fries chicken and makes sweet iced tea too. Might be worth $18. I am still looking too. Maybe the programmers at Flock will add more features in future versions.

    Ecto and MarsEdit are goods. I prefer ecto.

    But be careful with images if they don’t are online and don’t have a url. The only program (I know) which can blogging and transfer images on a online’s repertories is MacJournal. But MacJournal don’t work with tags (as I know).

    I love Ecto and have been using it for over a year. Without it there is no way I’d be able to blog as much as I do. I love being able to save things offline as drafts, the built in spell check, and the ability to define quickkeys for different HTML code sequences. I use blockquotes, links, and lists (bulleted and numbered) frequently, and just have to hit a couple of keys to create all that code. Ecto will directly upload images to your Wordpress server, but personally I prefer to upload images to Flickr and then copy the code directly from Flickr for the image size I want to show on my blog. this if very easy, let’s people also connect to Flickr, and I love how Flickr resizes the images in several variations. Ecto has a nice preview, but isn’t a true WYSIWYG editor. That is fine with me, since the coding stuff I am doing is pretty simple. It is also cross platform and works on Windows machines. I looked at MarsEdit too when I was looking for a 3rd party blogging tool but settled on Ecto, I consider it to be one of my most valuable applications. I use it everyday!
